On September 20, 2023, the Chiefs of Ontario (COO) will host a demonstration in Ottawa, ON, to oppose the passing of Bill C-53.

If passed, Bill C-53 will affirm that all Métis Communities represented by the MNO have the right to self-determination, including the right to self-government under s. 35. The legislation will also recognize MNO as a Métis Government and an Indigenous Governing Body.

OFNYPC invites and encourages First Nations youth from across the Ontario Region, as well as across other
regions, to join COO, First Nations Leadership, Technicians, Grassroots Organizations, and other
supporters in Ottawa on September 20 to voice your opposition to Bill C-53.
